NSE Closing Auction Session
Since 3 August 2026 the closing price of an F&O stock is no longer the average of the last thirty minutes. It is set by an auction between 15:15 and 15:35, and the rules about which orders the exchange will accept change three times inside that window. This page shows the phase you are actually in, and what the auction is doing to each price.
The closing-auction book is not available
NSE served a book dated 2026-08-13; expected 2026-08-14.
NSE is serving a book from a different session than the one we expect.
This page reads NSE’s own closing-auction feed. When that feed has nothing to give, nothing is shown rather than a board of zeroes.
How the session runs
| Time (IST) | What happens |
|---|---|
| 15:00 - 15:15 | Normal trading. This VWAP becomes each stock’s reference price. |
| 15:15 - 15:20 | Transition. The exchange accepts no new orders at all. |
| 15:20 - 15:25 | Order collection I. Market and limit orders. Indicative prices are published. |
| 15:25 - 15:30 | Order collection II. Limit orders only, and the window shuts at a random moment from 15:28. |
| 15:30 - 15:35 | Matching. The close is the price at which the most shares can trade. |
A ±3% band around the reference price applies throughout, and stock futures are held to that same band from 15:15 to 15:40. If no equilibrium price is found the close falls back to the reference price, then the last traded price, then the previous close.
