What is an IPO?
An IPO (Initial Public Offering) is the first sale of a company's shares to the public, after which the stock lists and trades on an exchange like NSE or BSE.
How do I check IPO subscription status?
Subscription status shows how many times an IPO has been bid for across investor categories (QIB, NII, Retail). On Downstox, open the IPO's page to see the live category-wise subscription, sourced from official NSE data.
How do I check IPO allotment status?
After the issue closes and allotment is finalised, check on the IPO registrar's portal (KFin, MUFG Intime, Bigshare or Cameo) or the BSE/NSE allotment page using your PAN or application number. Each IPO page links to the checks.
What is the difference between a mainboard and an SME IPO?
Mainboard IPOs are larger companies listing on the main NSE/BSE boards. SME IPOs are smaller companies listing on the NSE Emerge / BSE SME platforms, with larger lot sizes and higher minimum investment.
What is IPO GMP (Grey Market Premium)?
GMP is the premium at which an IPO's shares trade unofficially in the grey market before they list. A GMP of, say, Rs 50 on a Rs 200 issue suggests the market expects it to list around Rs 250. GMP is an unofficial, indicative estimate that moves daily and is not a guarantee of listing gains. Downstox shows indicative GMP from public grey-market trackers alongside the official NSE calendar.
